From Friends of the Earth, COAG, Ecologists in Greenpeace action and promoted a Declaration of personalities and civil society organizations on biotechnology applications in genetic modification of plants. Against the promises of the industry we want to provide a document showing the reality of the introduction of GMOs.
We got a statement widely supported by civil society, with support from representatives of organizations, associations, NGOs, trade unions, researchers and teachers, which makes clear that the GM debate concerns the whole society. The scientific establishment is an important part of debate and society as a whole is also one who can make decisions affecting agriculture, power, applications of GMOs and the right to produce and consume in the wild. The document was submitted on Wednesday 16 January, but we want this Declaration is a living document that can be incorporated further support in the coming months. To adhere to the statement, one need only send an email with name, title, and organization / department / college or what amounts to informacion@greenpeace.es and put in subject DECLARATION AGAINST GMOs.
