Santa Maria ... Zion? Metamorphosis of a concept

Fundamentals a mistake.

the Temple of Zion, along with San Lorenzo de Vallejo, is a the most important Romanesque monuments Mena Valley, in Burgos Merindades.

In a clearing on a hill, into the small town near Villasana, stands the church of Santa Maria Sion, from which dominate the plains of the valley, the north and the foothills of the impressive Sierra de la Magdalena, in the south.

Zions does not appear in the sources for the history of Castile, because the original documents of the Valle de Mena buildings were destroyed in a fire at the home of Mr. San Pelayo occurred in 1909, suffered the same fate as the files diocese of Burgos in 1812.

.

Therefore, the first specific reference to the temple have, featured in the "Bienandanzas and fortunes" of mid-century XIV, quoting Lope García de Salazar Zions acquired the monastery and all the inheritance of the Casa de Vallejo on grounds of marriage to doña All of Vallejo, whose union would be born Don Juan Lopez de Salazar, successor to the patronage of the temple and erroneously called Abbot of Zion, when in fact it should have been, not the people but of the Order it was based, namely the Order of St. John of Jerusalem. Although

local history and eminent scholars claim that Zions Romance belonged to the Templars, and even that that López de Salazar belonged to the Templar Order, there is no documentary confirmation to substantiate any such assertion. On the other hand, no embellishment, even architecture, the temple provides sufficient evidence to enable a solid foundation on which to base such a claim.

.

However, and perhaps the inclusion in the description of the strange reference to Mount Zion proximal without reference to justify such invocation, and the proximity of the Sierra de la Magdalena , defined to the south, and geographic reference, nearest the date of its founding and through the intervention of the Knights Hospitaller Order sanjuanistas in the parcel and the Temple of San Lorenzo de Vallejo (which included the enigmatic and amazing St Pantaleon church Slab), were sufficient for a member of the nobility, the ministerial office finally turned in our political transition, wrote a widely circulated article in which, with the best intention rigor, pointing the location of the Holy Grail in nearby Sierra Saved Bilbao, referring to the legendary "Mont Salvat, with the legend and folklore letter ended up giving the unjustified nature Zions name. ..................................... * * * *
Favored by the postulate that Picasso noted stating that the muses have to wait for work, try to substantiate what, in our view, we understand was and has been the reason and purpose of the ambiguity of his appointment as As is known in the Roman world today.

. Commenting
between us pictures selected for an upcoming exhibition of paintings Romance Specifically we look at a representation of Santa Maria and San Juan belonging to the frescoes in the church of San Miquel de La Seu d'Urgell s. XII, and thus, we find out the thread of Ariadne:
.
....................... -S-Mary ....................... -S-Ions (Sion)
The search for new standards that will take us to consolidate the theory, leaving her safe from a mere anecdotal history led us to another painting of a church of Sant Iscle and Santa Victoria Surp (Lleida) currently in the MNAC .
.

Given that it was syncopate usual, we understand that St. Mary of Zion is "Santa Maria de S. Ioane " which corrobaría the presence and settlement of such parcels of Vallejo, the Hospitaller Order of St. John in the secondary branch of the Camino de Santiago and, ultimately, end up being the beneficiary of a generous donation from Mrs. Endrequina.
................ judge for yourselves. .

understand in this way, it would be convenient to call this temple the Mena Valley, in the Merindades Burgos, on the real and original name:
.......... .................. Santa Maria de San Juan.
